Eyelid Rejuvenation (Blepharoplasty) |
As you age your eyelids are subjected to the
relentless downward pull of gravity.
Eventually, gravity wins.
And what you see in the mirror— and what others see— is a
droopy, tired appearance caused by resulting excessive upper
eyelid tissue.
Dr. Kraft has been performing surgical repair of the
delicate tissues around the eyes for more than 30 years.
With his skill as a surgeon and extensive knowledge of
eyelid anatomy, Dr. Kraft is able to rejuvenate the eyelid
area—while giving patients a natural appearance, with no
visible scars.
Procedures
A cosmetic blepharoplasty involves removal of excess eyelid
skin and fatty tissues of both the upper and lower eyelids
to provide a younger, more appealing look.
In ptosis repair, the procedure used to correct drooping
eyelids, the eyelids are carefully elevated to increase a
patient’s field of vision and improve overall appearance.
Both procedures are performed under local anesthesia and on
an out-patient basis (hospitalization not required). Dr
Kraft uses a state-of-the-art electrocautery instrument to
minimize bruising and post-operative bleeding.
Most patients find they are able to return to their normal
activities quickly, usually within 2 to 3 days.
Indications
Patients exhibiting the following physical characteristics
or symptoms are often excellent candidates for
blepharoplasty: excessive upper eyelid skin; drooping
eyelids; fatique from prolonged reading; frequent blinking;
need to raise eyebrows and forehead muscles to see and read;
loss of some upper portions of the visual field.
